Aussie Bollywood star alters appears to 'look more Indian'

You may not have heard of Lucinda Nicholas, but the Australian former beauty pageant queen is making a name for herself in Bollywood.

Reflecting on her career this week, the 28-year-old spoke about the differences between Aussie and Indian culture and even admitted she subtly changes her appearance to ‘look more Indian’ to get better roles.

The former Miss World told : ‘Sometimes I would wear brown contact lenses to make me look more Indian, I guess you could say.’

Lucinda is of Middle Eastern and European heritage and has played characters with English, South Indian and Austrian backgrounds.

‘A lot of foreigners become successful [in Bollywood] by really taking on the language and Indian culture,’ she said.

‘People think [India] is so different to Australia, but once you live there and you’re a part of the culture you realise how similar we all are as humans no matter what race or religion.’
